Gulf of Hisaronu
Selimiye: starting point of the Gulf of Hisaronu Cruise
Situated on the Gulf of Hisaronu, Selimiye is the boarding point of this route. Selimiye is located 40 kilometers west of Marmaris. Its beautiful natural surroundings are complemented by the clear blue sea. The ruins of the ancient city Hydas are located in Selimiye. Old city walls, a monastery, a theater and the ruins of three different castles will take you back to the Hellenistic period.
A yoga cruise would give you the chance to practice yoga at these beautiful locations. Lovely meals can be enjoyed at one of the local restaurants where the chefs would love to prepare their freshly caught fish for you.
Our next stop is Bozburun, which is known for its sponge trading and gulet yacht building. A visit to the dry docks here will help you find out more about the building of gulet yachts. This is just one of the many possibilities Bozburun has to offer.
Further along the route, you will find Datça. This quaint town is located on the Datça peninsula; a small, mountainous narrow strip of land which divides the Mediterranean and Aegean Sea. Datça harbors a lot of natural beauty and many secluded bays. The town itself has a lively harbor, surrounded by honey-coloured, limestone houses. Some are located behind high garden walls that shelter lush bougainvillea and almond trees. In addition, you’ll find shops selling local produce. The most common products are honey, almonds and fish. Stop by the old amphitheater to complete the visit.
On the way to Greece
Now we’re going to cross over to Greece, to the authentic Greek island of Symi*. The small houses leaning against the mountainside, the narrow alleyways, the churches & monasteries and the local shops & restaurants give this island its glow. Fresh fish is also on the menu here, prepared Mediterranean style.
Meet the most beautiful bays of Turkey
From Symi, we sail back to Turkish waters and drop anchor in the bay of Bençik. This is a quiet and protected anchorage surrounded by pine foresting. Bençik is located in the narrow part of the peninsula which separates the Gulf of Hisaronu from the Gulf of Gokova. Just a bit further is the bay of Aktur. According to many, this is the most beautiful bay of Turkey. Far from the busy touristic places, you can enjoy the silence and take a dip in the clear blue sea.
Dirsek Buku is located in between the Aegean Sea and the Gulf of Hisaronu. Here you’ll find different sheltered bays, which offer an amazing view of the stars at night.
Our cruise continues to the bay of Orhaniye, where the beautiful scenery of Kizkumu Beach can be explored. What makes Kizkumu beach so special is you can actually walk over water, a truly unique experience. The secret: a 600 meters long and 2 meters wide sandbank.
This final stop of this route is Kameria Island. Captain Jack will drop its anchor for the last time in yet another beautiful bay. On this island you can visit the remnants of an old church which features gorgeous historic murals. Next to the church, stands a tree which is at least as old, probably with its own stories to tell. Of course there’ll be time for a final dip in the water.
*The visa for the Greek island of Symi isn’t included in the prices of our week.
